What can happen

Safety consequence

ON THE INVOLVED VEHICLES, THE HOSE USED TO SUPPLY VACUUM TO THE BRAKE POWER UNIT OR VACUUM RESERVE TANK MAY HAVE BEEN OF THE WRONG MATERIAL. THIS HOSE COULD DEFORM SUFFICIENTLY DURING NORMAL OPERATION TO CAUSE A REDUCTION IN VACUUM ASSIST TO THE BRAKE POWER UNIT. THIS WOULD RESULT IN GREATER BRAKE PEDAL EFFORT BY OPERATOR AND AN INCREASE IN VEHICLE STOPPING DISTANCES.

What fixes it

Official remedy

THE DEALER WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REMOVE INCORRECT HOSE AND INSTALL THE PROPER VACUUM HOSE.
