What can happen

Safety consequence

A loose nut that separates from the steering gear assembly while driving can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

What fixes it

Official remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the steering gear assembly, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 20, 2026. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N262563570. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on June 23, 2026.
