Safety consequence
Contamination of the calipers may cause a loss of brakes on one wheel, lengthening the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Official remedy
Mack will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the disc brake caliper and brake chamber to determine if the washers are located in the correct position. If the washers are in the correct position, no further action is required. If the washers are not located in the correct position, replacement of the disc brake caliper and brake chamber will be performed and the addition of two washers per brake assembly will be installed, free of charge.
