What can happen

Safety consequence

AN ELECTRICAL SHORT MAY CAUSE A VEHICLE FIRE POSSIBLY RESULTING IN PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH.

What fixes it

Official remedy

NAVISTAR WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE, IF NECESSARY, THE ALTERNATOR CABLE AND THE INSTALLATION OF THE TIE STRAPS TO ROUTE THE ALTERNATOR CABLE AWAY FROM THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE MOUNTING BRACKET. REPAIRS WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NAVISTAR AT 1-800-448-7825.
