Safety consequence
HEADLIGHTS INSTALLED AT HEIGHTS OUTSIDE OF THE PARAMETERS SET BY THE SAFETY STANDARD MAY NOT FULLY ILLUMINATE ROAD SURFACES OR MAY INHIBIT THE ABILITY OF MOTORISTS TO SEE VEHICLES INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Official remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE HEADLAMP HEIGHT AND REPLACE ANY NONCONFORMING HEADLIGHTS WITH NEW HEADLIGHTS THAT LOWER THE BULB CENTER SUCH THAT THE HEADLIGHTS MEET THE SAFETY STANDARD FREE OF CHARGE. AN INTERIM LETTER WAS SENT TO OWNERS ON JUNE 1, 2011. THE NOTIFICATION LETTER TO NOTIFY OWNERS THAT THE REMEDY IS NOW AVAILABLE WAS MAILED ON OCTOBER 10, 2011.
