What can happen

Safety consequence

IF ONE OF THE SUSPECT STEERING KNUCKLES FAILS, THE WHEEL AT THAT WHEEL END WOULD COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING AND THE DRIVER WOULD EXPERIENCE A SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

What fixes it

Official remedy

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TWO FRONT STEERING KNUCKLES. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JULY 20, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT INTERNATIONAL AT 1-800-448-7825.
